Tuesday, November 19, 2024

My recent visit to Dutchess Community College was a dynamic and insightful experience, showcasing the dedication and spirit of its faculty and staff.

The day began with a productive meeting with the governance executive committee, including CGL Michael Adams; Faculty Council Press Secretary Margeaux Lippman; Chair of the Professional Staff Organization Matt Palmatier; Faculty Council Delegate Gary Ljungquist; and Faculty Council Alternate Delegate Renee Lathrop. Renee, a former CGL and a veteran member of the Faculty Council since the Tina Good/Nina Tamrowski era, brought a wealth of institutional knowledge and a deep understanding of shared governance to the conversation.

Following this robust discussion, I facilitated an open forum attended by more than 20 engaged faculty and staff members who candidly shared their thoughts and perspectives. Their openness and willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue were greatly appreciated.

Midday, President Jordan and CAO Ray Huston graciously hosted me and CGL Adams for a collegial lunch that provided an opportunity for further engaging conversations about the college’s initiatives and challenges.

The day culminated in another open forum with a diverse group of faculty and staff leaders, underscoring the collaborative ethos that defines Dutchess Community College.

I extend my deepest gratitude to the hardworking faculty and staff who made my visit both welcoming and enriching. Your commitment to shared governance and the success of your college community is truly inspiring!
