There's something in the air at SUNY Genesee -- and it's not just the charming rural breeze. Nestled in the heart of Genesee county -- where, as beloved biology professor Marirose Ethington reminds us, "there are more cows than people" -- tradition intertwined with fresh vision has brought the campus to life.

On my first campus visit of the new year, it was immediately clear: transformation is underway -- and it's the kind that sparks excitement. At just six months into his presidency, Dr. Craig Lamb has sparked a renewed vitality into the college, bringing a sense of momentum and purpose. Working alongside Dr. Lamb, and four months in the role of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Kathleen Landy, radiates an inspiring spirit of authenticity and bold possibility.

Together, these dynamic leaders are doing more than settling in; they are actively reimagining the future, listening deeply, and daring the campus to dream bigger. I can't wait to see where their vision leads.

My visit began with lunch with the entire Academic Senate Executive Committee. Above from the left: Rebecca Herman, David Johnson, Theresa Sukiennicki, Krysia Mager, Candice Vacin, Kathleen Landy, Becky Dziekan, Judith Littlejohn, Daniel Snyder, Virgil Alcazaren, Charles Scruggs, Krystal Forsyth, Michelle Forster Karlyn Backus, Kristen Hargrave.

This was followed by meetings with Provost Landy, and President Lamb (without whom I would be able to serve as Faculty Council President and SUNY Trustee), thank you for your support President Lamb!

Next was an open forum with GCC's engaged, excited and innovative faculty.

The day concluded with a conversation with CGL/FCCC Alternate Delegate, Charles Scruggs, FCCC Delegate, Rebecca Herlan and Academic Senate Vice President, Dan Snyder.

It was great to be back "home" at SUNY Genesee, my thanks to everyone who made the visit possible.
